Free PHP PBBG Scripts

In this post I will list some free, open source PBBG scripts written in PHP that I know of, so anybody who wants to run their own PBBG can start from somewhere

The scripts I cover in this post are:

RPG, Strategy and Virtual Pet game scripts are included in this list. Oh, and a little disclaimer: I didn’t write any of the descriptions on these scripts (except ezRPG), I pretty much just copy and pasted them. This post isn’t much of an analysis of the game scripts, but just a useful list.

Hello,
I run the Modular Gaming framework project which is a fork of KittoKittoKitto.

We have updated all 3rd party libs and the code is 40% faster than KittoKittoKitto.

Plus we have completed extra features such as AJAX chat, clans, referals, banking etc.

Very interesting, but i must say any free open source script will have loop holes and bugs.

Nice list, easily found by Google.

However, how often are these scripts actually updated? I’m a firm believer that for these browser based games it is much better to start from scratch. Any existing “scripts” I’ve seen have had all sorts of vulnerabilities. What is your take on this?

It’s probably better to start a browser-based game from scratch, if it’s possible. You can get a much more unique game.

But using a script is also an option, it reduces a lot of the starting work, and it can be modified into something unique as well.

I don’t know how often other open source scripts are updated, but I lead the ezRPG project. Any time important bugs are reported, I issue an update as soon as possible (within a few days). Minor bugs are fixed in groups and make it into the package at the next release.

Of course, just as any closed-source scripts will as well. Except open-source scripts have many users that will report the bug, and it can be fixed relatively easily. If you have a player abusing a bug in a closed-source script, it might take you a while to figure out what’s happening. These are all basic pros and cons of open source.

You know, the thing about SQL is, that there is virtually nothing that can replace it.

Does anyone know if a substitute exists for sql? I mean besides MS SQL and Oracle and all that jazz. Thanks.
